Kaneda was founded in Newcastle in 2015 on the ethos of promoting grass root talent from a range of musical backgrounds including electronic music, dance and hip hop. The Label promotes an eclectic and exciting range of releases from emerging artists and producers including ako, BUHL/Daughters, Badger, John Dole and Mausoleums; as well as mixes from its resident DJ’s Bad Luck Ginger and Daughters.
Kaneda club nights and gigs boast a wealth of musical fineries including live electronic music and DJs, spanning an eclectic range of genres including techno, house, world, disco, hip hop and beyond into experimental territory. The Kaneda team is also involved in organising Northern Electric Festival, an annual multi-venue celebration of electronic music in the North East.
Continuing our commitment to championing emerging artists we have recently founded a sub label (Linebreak) to operate on the blockchain to explore and find new, creative and fairer ways of working with artists as a record label. We hope to use the blockchain to operate without borders or boundaries, and challenge established ideas about music distribution.
